A clinical st Nevins, DDS and Marc L. Nevins, DMD, MMSc demonstrated that a healthy periodontal state could be achieved and maintained at least 9 months in moderate to severe periodontitis patients with Solea–assisted periodontal therapy (Ultraguide).3 A total of 56 teeth and 145 sites with an initial pocket depth (PD) of ≥ 5mm for 5 patients were treated.

  • Mean pocket depth reduction was ~4mm for teeth with an initial pocket depth ≥7mm
  • Up to 7mm pocket depth reduction was observed
  • 98% of treated teeth had pocket depths <5mm at 9 months

Human Clinical and Histologic Evaluations of Laser-Assisted Periodontal Therapy with a 9.3-μm CO2 Laser System

This investigation was designed to evaluate the healing response of 9.3-μm CO2 laser-assisted periodontal therapy. The current study results demonstrated the effectiveness of using the 9.3-μm CO2 laser in achieving a stable periodontium state compared to conventional periodontal surgery for moderate to severe periodontitis patients. After a healing period of 9 months, there was a mean PD reduction of 3.97 ± 1.36 mm for sites with initial PD ≥ 7 mm, resulting in a posttreatment mean PD of 3.91 ± 0.77 mm.
